The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has blacklisted 20 mobile loan applications operating in the country without the required licences or regulatory authorisation to provide digital credit services.n a notice issued on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, the central bank cautioned the public against using the platforms, citing concerns over customer data privacy, consumer protection and compliance with established regulatory requirements.
BoG also cautioned banks, Specialised Deposit-Taking Institutions (SDIs) and Payment Service Providers (PSPs) against facilitating or processing transactions on behalf of unlicensed loan providers.
The notice, according to the central bank, forms part of efforts to sanitise Ghana’s digital credit space and protect the public from entities providing digital credit services without proper licence or authorisation.
