President John Dramani Mahama is expected to attend a sod-cutting ceremony for the Sentuo Airport Garden City project in Accra tomorrow, Tuesday, 15 September 2026, as the Special Guest of Honour, according to the event’s organisers.
The ceremony is scheduled for 2:00pm at the project site on 10 Giffard Road, Accra.
The project, being advanced by Sentuo Group under Executive Chairman Xu Ningquan, is an estimated US$1.3 billion mixed-use development proposed to combine apartments with a hotel, conference facilities, healthcare services, a shopping mall and gardens.Advertisement
According to background material issued ahead of the event, the plans include a conference facility with capacity for 2,500 people, alongside the proposed hotel and other amenities.
Sentuo Group says the residential component is aimed at Ghanaian professionals as well as members of the diaspora and expatriate residents seeking accommodation within a development that also offers retail, hospitality and leisure facilities on site.
The company says the construction phase could create demand for engineers, artisans, technicians and building materials, while the eventual operation of the hotel and conference facilities could generate jobs in hospitality, catering, transport and property management. It said the extent of those opportunities would depend on the delivery of the proposed facilities and the involvement of local firms in construction and service contracts.
Tuesday’s event marks the formal launch of the project, with the sod-cutting expected to be followed by construction works at the site, though no timeline for completion has been disclosed.
