Kumasi, the Garden City, has exploded into a vibrant sea of red, white, and blue as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) prepares to host its much‑anticipated national officers’ election at the Baba Yara Stadium on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
With the countdown underway, the city’s streets are drenched in party colours, plastered with posters, billboards, and flags of aspirants vying for leadership positions.
The atmosphere is electric, reflecting the intensity of the contest as thousands of delegates and supporters converge on Kumasi for what promises to be a defining moment in the NPP’s political journey.
Proceedings will begin at 9:00 AM with consideration of constitutional amendments, followed by voting at 12:00 PM.
Security has been tightened, logistics put in place, and hospitality services boosted to accommodate the influx of participants. Traders are cashing in, stocking party souvenirs and paraphernalia to meet the demand of delegates and supporters flooding the city.
At the Baba Yara Stadium, the stage is set. The precincts are decorated with party colours and candidate portraits, awaiting the arrival of delegates who will cast their ballots.
A total of 7,163 delegates from all 16 regions will vote to elect officers to nine national positions. In all, 45 aspirants are contesting for roles including National Chairman, Vice Chairman, General Secretary, National Organiser, National Women’s Organiser, National Youth Organiser, National Nasara Organiser, National Treasurer, and National Communications Director.
The election will be supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC), with voting scheduled to take place across 31 polling stations inside the stadium.
