The Western Regional Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Mustapha Iddrisu, has secured furnishing support worth 16 air conditioners and 11 television sets for the party’s new regional office under construction in Sekondi.

The items were donated by Sekondi-based businessman and NDC supporter, Daniel Kwame Acheampong, following an appeal by Mr Iddrisu to support the completion and equipping of the facility.

When completed, the building is expected to become the first purpose-built regional office of the NDC in Sekondi, providing the party with a dedicated space for its administrative operations, meetings and organisational activities.

Daniel Acheampong-Donor

Presenting the items, Mr Acheampong said he was motivated to support the project after the Regional Youth Organiser drew his attention to the need to furnish the new office.

The donation comprises ten 1.5-horsepower air conditioners, six 2.5-horsepower units, ten 50-inch television sets and one 75-inch television set intended for the conference room.

Mr. Acheampong stressed the importance of providing the party with the necessary resources to strengthen its operations, irrespective of whether it was in  government or opposition.

“It is very important to resource the party even when the party is in power because the party needs resources to continue to train and build capacity to work for the party, just like a businessman like me will need. So, the way forward is to do more for the party,” he said.

The Western Regional NDC Youth Organizer, Alhaji Mustapha Iddrisu, who facilitated the donation, described Mr. Acheampong as a committed supporter who had remained active in supporting the NDC, including during its years in opposition.

He said the businessman had previously supported the party’s Youth Wing, including donating ten motorbikes and more than 1,000 T-shirts ahead of the elections.

According to him, Mr. Acheampong’s latest contribution followed engagements with the party’s regional leadership on how he could support the construction and furnishing of the new office.

“Daniel has been very supportive and a close friend. In fact, he was very helpful to the Youth Wing to the extent that I even put him on the Finance Committee of the Youth Wing,” he said.

Alhaji Iddrisu commended the businessman for continuing to support the party despite the NDC’s return to power, adding that such commitment deserved recognition and encouragement.

He expressed hope that the donation would inspire other party supporters and well-wishers to contribute towards the completion and equipping of the facility.

Regional Chairman Expresses Appreciation

The Western Regional Chairman of the NDC, Nana Toku, who received the items on behalf of the party, expressed appreciation to Mr. Acheampong for the gesture.

He also appealed to other supporters and sympathisers to emulate the businessman’s example by contributing to the party’s development and strengthening its organisational capacity.

“I’m impressed with his support. If you’re putting up a family house, you need everyone to support, so that if tomorrow I’m not there, whoever is coming can say I did these to support. No contribution, no chop!,” he said.

The donation is expected to help equip the new regional office ahead of its eventual use by the party.
