More than 3,000 residents in Hohoe in the Volta Region have been displaced following hours of downpour on Sunday night, September 27, 2026.
Member of Parliament for Hohoe, Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, has appealed for urgent support to help victims recover.
“It’s overwhelming. The MP and the MCE alone cannot; in fact, we are not able to (do it alone). We are calling for support,” he told Channel One’s Newsroom on Monday.
Meanwhile, in a Facebook post, the MP expressed sympathy to affected residents and urged them to remain calm as relief efforts intensify.
“The severity of flooding in parts of Hohoe is a matter of serious concern. The situation has resulted in varying degrees of damage and loss, affecting homes, properties and the livelihoods of some residents.
I wish to extend my heartfelt sympathy to all individuals and families who have suffered losses as a result of the recent floods.”“I fully appreciate the difficulties and distress this situation has caused, and I encourage affected residents to remain calm as efforts are being intensified to address the situation.”
